Join our healthcare team as a Travel Registered Nurse providing compassionate care to medically complex patients in a long-term acute care (LTAC) hospital in Homewood, Alabama. Travel Nursing Job Details

Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Alabama
- Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate bedside nursing experience
- Recent experience in long-term acute care, stepdown, or intensive care unit (ICU) nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required before the first shift
- Strong patient assessment, clinical documentation, prioritization, and communication skills
- Commitment to patient safety, interdisciplinary teamwork, and compassionate nursing care
LTAC Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized plans of care.
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in clinical status, and communicate pertinent updates to providers and the nursing team.
- Participate in rehabilitation programming and support patients in achieving recovery and quality-of-life goals.
- Educate patients, families, and significant others about diagnoses, treatment plans, care needs, and discharge expectations.
- Initiate discharge planning from admission and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Accurately and promptly document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Delegate appropriately and provide direction, training, and supervision to licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and orienting staff.
- Promote safe patient handling, infection prevention, fall prevention, and a safe care environment.
- Prioritize assignments, manage time effectively, maintain necessary supplies, and contribute to a positive and efficient unit culture.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation when requested and pursue ongoing professional development.
