Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department / Acute Care

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
  • At least 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
  • At least 1 year of acute hospital experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
  • Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Current stroke certification through the American Heart Association or RQI
  • Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to provide safe, effective care for patients across the lifespan in a dynamic emergency setting

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

  • Perform triage and identify the urgency and priority of care using established emergency severity standards.
  • Complete timely primary and secondary assessments for patients of all ages, identifying changes in condition and life-threatening concerns.
  • Deliver direct nursing care, including invasive and non-invasive procedures, emergency treatments, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Monitor patient responses to treatment, reassess clinical status, and escalate changes appropriately.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, EMS, and the interdisciplinary care team to support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide compassionate communication, reassurance, pain and comfort measures, and regular updates to patients and families.
  • Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures, treatments, discharge, and follow-up care.
  • Recognize and report psychosocial concerns, suspected abuse, domestic violence, and other safety risks in accordance with policy.
  • Educate patients and families using teaching strategies that promote understanding and safe care after discharge.
  • Delegate appropriately, support team development, maintain infection-prevention practices, and promote a healing environment.
  • Document assessments, interventions, patient education, and outcomes accurately and promptly.
