Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least 2 years of acute hospital RN experience, including at least 1 year of Emergency Department experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Current stroke assessment certification, such as NIHSS, as required by the department
- Certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association or completed through RQI, where applicable
- Ability to work rotating day and night shifts, weekends, holidays, and scheduled on-call assignments
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills
Travel Emergency RN Responsibilities
- Perform triage and identify the urgency and priority of care for patients of all age groups using established emergency assessment standards.
- Complete focused and comprehensive assessments, recognize changes in condition, and initiate timely interventions for critical and routine emergency presentations.
- Provide direct nursing care, including invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, monitoring, and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice.
- Reassess patients after interventions, evaluate treatment response, and communicate changes promptly to the interdisciplinary care team.
- Establish rapport with patients and families, reduce anxiety, address comfort and pain needs, and provide clear updates throughout the Emergency Department visit.
- Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, provide discharge education, and support appropriate post-emergency care planning.
- Assess psychosocial, emotional, cultural, and safety needs, documenting and reporting suspected abuse or domestic violence according to policy.
- Collaborate with physicians and other care team members, delegate appropriately, and promote infection prevention and patient safety practices.
