- End Date: November 23, 2026
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,590-$1,680
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.; 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Weekends required
- On-Call: None
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 5-9 patients per nurse
- Documentation: Cerner electronic medical record
- Floating: May float to adult inpatient behavioral health areas
Psychiatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
- At least 1 year of registered nursing experience; behavioral health or medical-surgical experience strongly preferred
- Experience caring for geriatric patients is highly valued
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong patient assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical judgment skills
- Ability to de-escalate patients and respond calmly in challenging situations
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach with excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to support adult inpatient areas when needed
Psychiatric RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to geriatric behavioral health patients
- Complete comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessments, monitor patient conditions, and communicate changes to the care team
- Administer medications and treatments according to established policies and provider orders
- Use therapeutic communication and behavioral health de-escalation techniques to promote patient safety and stability
- Perform vital signs, blood draws, bladder scans, and other routine clinical procedures
- Recognize and respond appropriately to rapid responses and code situations
- Collaborate with behavioral health staff and support personnel to develop and deliver individualized patient care
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in the electronic medical record
- Promote a respectful, calming, and supportive environment for patients and families
