CVICU Travel Nursing Job Details

- Start Date: October 11, 2026
- Assignment End Date: January 10, 2027
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 36 hours per week; alternating weekends
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m.
- Unit: 16-bed cardiovascular ICU
- Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1 or 1:1, with occasional 3:1 assignments based on patient acuity
- Documentation: Cerner
- Openings: 1
CVICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
- At least 1 year of recent CVICU, cardiovascular ICU, or critical care nursing experience
- Demonstrated experience titrating vesicant medications and managing pressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Proficiency with mechanical ventilators, tracheostomies, telemetry interpretation, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Knowledge of pulmonary artery catheter setup and interpretation
- Experience with transvenous pacing and cardioversion
- Ability to float to other clinical areas as needed
- CCRN certification is recommended but not required
- Experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT is highly valued
- Ability to follow unit dress standards, including navy or navy-and-white scrubs
CVICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity cardiovascular and critically ill patients
- Continuously assess patients, recognize changes in condition, and implement timely critical care interventions
- Safely administer and titrate vasoactive, vesicant, sedative, and paralytic medications
- Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation, telemetry, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and therapeutic hypothermia
- Interpret cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic data, and pulmonary artery catheter measurements
- Support and monitor patients undergoing cardioversion, transvenous pacing, and other critical care procedures
- Assist with and provide post-procedure care for central line placement, bronchoscopy, EGD, chest tube insertion, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to promote safe, evidence-based patient outcomes
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Cerner
- Maintain a professional, adaptable approach while supporting unit staffing needs and alternating weekend coverage
