Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Peoria, Illinois
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- End Date: January 25, 2027
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, typically 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; Friday/Saturday nights
- Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation per policy
- Call: Not required
- Orientation: Typically two 12-hour shifts with a unit preceptor
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
- Patient Ratios: Typically 5–6 patients per nurse on nights, with ratios varying by census and patient acuity
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license, or confirmation that the Illinois license application process has been initiated
- At least 1 year of acute-care hospital experience in a medical-surgical nursing setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to care for adult patients with varied medical diagnoses and changing acuity levels
- ACLS certification preferred for nurses interested in charge nurse responsibilities
- Willingness to float to other hospital units as needed
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients with a variety of diagnoses
- Assess patient status, develop and update individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment outcomes
- Safely administer medications and titrate heparin drips according to clinical protocols
- Monitor patients requiring oxygen therapy up to 6 liters by nasal cannula, as well as stable BiPAP or CPAP at night or as needed
- Monitor telemetry patients in collaboration with the remote telemetry team and respond appropriately to changes in rhythm or condition
- Attempt peripheral IV starts and coordinate with unit resources when additional assistance is needed
- Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, patient care technicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses accurately in EPIC
- Promote patient safety, patient education, comfort, and continuity of care throughout the travel assignment
