Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Iowa
- At least 2 years of bedside clinical nursing experience
- Recent critical care experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to the first shift
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification prior to the first shift
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and prioritization skills
- Ability to provide safe, compassionate care to medically complex patients and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team
LTAC Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments within the required timeframe and develop individualized plans of care.
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and communicate pertinent information promptly to providers, charge nurses, and other care team members.
- Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care updates accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and contribute to patient rehabilitation and quality-outcome goals.
- Initiate discharge planning upon admission and provide patient and family education in preparation for a safe transition of care.
- Delegate appropriately and provide direction, training, and supervision to LPNs, nursing assistants, and orienting staff.
- Promote patient and staff safety by following infection prevention, safe-handling, workplace safety, and facility nursing procedures.
- Prioritize assignments, organize workflow, and use time and resources effectively to meet patient needs.
- Support a positive, collaborative unit environment through calm communication, teamwork, and professional conduct.
- Assume charge responsibilities after orientation as requested and pursue ongoing professional development.
