Travel PACU Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Lewes, Delaware

Join an acute-care post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) in Lewes, Delaware, and provide safe, compassionate recovery care for patients after surgical and procedural services. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers 40 guaranteed hours per week, four 10-hour day shifts, and the opportunity to care for diverse patient populations in a collaborative PACU environment. Located near Lewes Beach and the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, Lewes is a charming coastal community with excellent dining, shopping, outlets, and outdoor recreation.

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 1, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120–$2,230
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shifts per Week: 4
• Shift Duration: 10-hour day shifts
• Shift Schedule: Variable start times between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
• Call Requirement: Approximately 4–5 call shifts every 4 weeks, including rotating weekend, holiday, day, and overnight call
• Patient Population: Orthopedic, gynecologic, pediatric, vascular, ENT, C-section, gastrointestinal, and general surgery patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 2 patients per RN

PACU Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Delaware
• At least 2 years of critical care nursing experience; PACU experience is strongly preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications
• Demonstrated ability to care for post-anesthesia and critically ill patients
• Experience with arterial lines and ventilator management
• Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
• Willingness to provide rotating weekend and holiday call coverage

PACU RN Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients throughout the post-anesthesia recovery process
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and promptly identify changes in patient condition
• Manage airways, ventilators, arterial lines, pain, nausea, and other post-operative needs
• Care for patients recovering from a broad range of surgical and procedural interventions
• Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support safe patient transitions
• Provide patient and family education regarding recovery, discharge instructions, and ongoing care needs
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
• Provide support to Same-Day Surgery or Pre-Admission Testing areas as needed
• Participate in scheduled weekend, holiday, and overnight call rotations
