PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing
- Location: Norfolk, Virginia 23502
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.; approximately 36 hours per week, typically three shifts
- Per Diem Requirement: Minimum of one shift per month to remain compliant with the per diem pool
- Start Date: August 26, 2026
- Duration: Approximately 52 weeks, with potential scheduling flexibility based on unit needs
- Orientation: Must be available for weekday orientation, Monday through Friday
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 – $2,130

PCU RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia
- At least 2 years of professional Registered Nurse experience
- At least 1 recent year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and clinical judgment skills in a step-down or progressive care environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively during 12-hour overnight shifts
- Must be a local candidate and available to attend weekday orientation
PCU Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring progressive and intermediate-level monitoring
- Assess patient conditions, identify changes in status, and escalate concerns promptly
- Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient responses
- Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Monitor cardiac, respiratory, and other clinically significant parameters according to unit protocols
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and recovery needs
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record
- Support safe transitions of care and promote quality outcomes for every patient
