Emergency Department RN Job Details
- Specialty: Emergency Department Nursing
- Location: Norfolk, Virginia
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Schedule: Night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Typical Hours: 36 hours per week when scheduled for a full-week assignment
- Assignment Duration: September 23, 2026–September 23, 2027
- Orientation: Must be available Monday through Friday
- Per Diem Requirement: Work at least one shift per month to remain compliant with the per diem pool
Emergency Department Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia
- At least 2 years of professional RN experience
- At least 1 recent year of Emergency Department or emergency room nursing experience
- Ability to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate care in a high-acuity environment
- Availability for 12-hour night shifts and required weekday orientation
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
Emergency Department RN Responsibilities
- Assess, triage, and prioritize patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs
- Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient responses
- Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate concerns promptly
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families regarding care, treatment, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional nursing standards
