Join a collaborative Labor and Delivery team as a travel Registered Nurse (RN) in Polson, Montana. This travel nursing job is ideal for an experienced LDRP nurse who provides comprehensive obstetric, postpartum, and newborn care in a close-knit critical access hospital. Support patients through triage, labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum care, and newborn care while working with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Travel RN Job Details
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Location: Polson, Montana
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- End Date: January 18, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,260–$2,380
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: Three 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Setting: Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum, and Newborn Care (LDRP)
- Facility Type: Critical access hospital
- Unit Overview: Approximately 2 patients daily, with 3 rooms and typical nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:6
- Charting: Epic electronic medical record
- Weekends: Required and evenly distributed among staff
- Holiday Coverage: Travelers must commit to working 3 of 5 designated winter holidays; at least one winter holiday pair may be required
- Call: Limited call coverage may be requested, up to once per pay period, with a 30-minute callback time
- Parking: No-fee parking
Labor and Delivery RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Montana or a compact RN license in hand at submission
- At least 3 years of Labor and Delivery or LDRP nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required; seasoned travel nurses preferred
- Experience caring for obstetric patients and newborns in an LDRP environment
- Current BLS and NRP certifications
- CLC and STABLE certifications preferred or required based on assignment compliance
- Recent experience with Epic charting
- Ability to circulate for C-sections, perform sterile vaginal examinations, and triage obstetric patients
- Ability to provide two professional references covering at least one year of recent experience
- Flexibility to support related unit needs, including IV starts, answering phones, and assisting with clinical skills when Labor and Delivery has no active patients
Labor and Delivery Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care across the LDRP continuum, including triage, labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and newborn care
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, including the use of wireless fetal monitoring
- Care for patients with pregnancy-related conditions, including pregnancy-induced hypertension and neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and circulate for Cesarean sections
- Perform sterile vaginal examinations and obstetric patient assessments
- Recognize changes in maternal or neonatal condition and initiate appropriate interventions
- Support postpartum recovery and provide safe, compassionate care to newborns
- Use the Epic electronic medical record to document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes
- Collaborate with respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, therapy, phlebotomy, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
- Assist with specialized obstetric care, including the use of JADA devices for postpartum hemorrhage when indicated
- Float within the assigned care environment to support unit operations and patient care needs
