Join a collaborative perioperative team as an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) in Boston, Massachusetts. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers on-site OR experience across diverse surgical specialties in a 24/7 operating room environment.
Located in Boston’s vibrant 02118 neighborhood, this Massachusetts nursing opportunity provides exposure to general, gynecology, urology, oral surgery, otolaryngology, bariatrics, orthopedics, neurology, vascular, thoracic, cardiac, plastics, podiatry, robotics, pediatrics, trauma, and spine procedures. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,470–$2,600
- Healthcare Setting: On-site operating room; 24/7 surgical services
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts 02118
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 30, 2027
- Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week, typically three 12-hour shifts
- Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
- Shift Rotation: Day and night rotation; day starts at 7:00 a.m. and night starts at 7:00 p.m.
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every third weekend as needed and every other holiday
- On-Call Requirement: Once per scheduled assignment cycle
- Department Size: 17 operating rooms
- Additional Flexibility: May float to another operating room location when needed
- Openings: 3 Operating Room RN positions
Operating Room RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Massachusetts
- At least 2 years of recent inpatient Operating Room or perioperative nursing experience
- Operating room scrub experience required
- Competency in at least five surgical service lines
- Experience with a variety of procedures beyond general, gynecology, and urology preferred
- Neuro, vascular, and Level I trauma experience preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and excellent communication skills
- Ability to work rotating days and nights, weekends, holidays, and scheduled call
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical experience
- Scrub and assist with procedures across multiple specialties based on department needs
- Prepare operating rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment for scheduled procedures
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, nurses, surgical technologists, and other members of the perioperative team
- Maintain sterile technique and follow established infection prevention and patient safety standards
- Monitor patient status and respond appropriately to changing clinical conditions
- Support procedures involving general, gynecologic, urologic, orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, thoracic, cardiac, pediatric, trauma, robotic, and other surgical services
- Complete accurate documentation and communicate effectively during handoffs
- Float to another operating room location when required to support continuity of surgical services
