Join a comprehensive women’s and children’s healthcare team caring for laboring patients, antepartum patients, postpartum couplets, and newborns. You will be supported by experienced providers, anesthesia, surgical technicians, CNAs, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams. - Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Unit: High-risk perinatal care with 19 labor and delivery beds, 10 antepartum beds, 30 postpartum beds, 3 operating rooms, 2 PACU bays, and 7 triage bays
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Floating: Required to postpartum and potentially nearby sister locations
- Call: Not required
- Charting: Epic
- Orientation: 40 hours
Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible to practice in Washington; compact license must be active and in hand when applicable
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- AWHONN Intermediate fetal monitoring or Relias fetal monitoring certification; AWHONN Advanced is highly valued
- Recent experience with high-risk labor and delivery, antepartum care, postpartum couplet care, and newborn assessment
- Required competency with sterile vaginal examinations (SVE)
- Strong experience with electronic fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience with facilities managing approximately 200 or more deliveries monthly is preferred; candidates with experience managing 100–200 deliveries may also be considered
- Epic charting experience required
- Ability to float to postpartum and work weekends as scheduled
- Two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years may be requested during compliance
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients experiencing routine and high-risk labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery
- Perform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments, including sterile vaginal examinations, non-stress tests, fetal monitoring, reflex checks, edema assessments, and clonus evaluation
- Care for patients with preeclampsia, eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, preterm labor, premature rupture of membranes, multiple gestation, postpartum hemorrhage, and other high-risk conditions
- Manage labor interventions, including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, terbutaline, antihypertensives, epidural anesthesia, amnioinfusion, and internal or external fetal monitoring
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, operative deliveries, cesarean sections, VBAC or trial of labor, forceps or vacuum extraction, and other high-risk deliveries
- Recover cesarean patients and provide postoperative monitoring and care
- Assess and care for newborns, including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, thermoregulation, blood glucose monitoring, cord care, and identification of neonatal complications
- Provide postpartum and couplet care, breastfeeding and lactation support, discharge education, fundus and lochia assessment, perineal care, and newborn-parent safety education
- Administer medications and blood products, initiate and maintain IV access, manage Foley catheters, and follow isolation and safety precautions
- Collaborate with delivering providers, CRNAs, surgical technicians, CNAs, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Document assessments, interventions, patient response, and care plans accurately in Epic
