Travel RN Job Details
- Location: Tyler, Texas
- Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,550–$1,630
- Start Date: October 20, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Documentation System: Epic
- Floating: Required to units of equal acuity
Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a compact state license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of recent registered nursing experience; 2 years of Med/Surg Tele or cardiac telemetry experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Recent experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting
- Demonstrated competency in medical-surgical nursing and cardiac telemetry monitoring
- Ability to interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and provide care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring
- Willingness to float to comparable-acuity units and work night shifts
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and respond promptly to clinical concerns
- Administer medications and blood products in accordance with established protocols
- Manage patients receiving cardiac medications without titration, oxygen therapy, and noninvasive respiratory support such as BiPAP or CPAP
- Perform patient assessments, administer treatments, and document nursing care accurately in Epic
- Provide central line, PICC, peripheral IV, feeding tube, tracheostomy, surgical drain, and wound care as indicated
- Support patients with conditions including renal failure, CVA, post-myocardial infarction recovery, and post-cardiac procedures
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float to units of equal acuity while maintaining high standards of patient-centered care
