Join a 13-week travel nursing assignment in Tyler, Texas, as an ICU Registered Nurse caring for adult and geriatric patients in a Medical-Surgical ICU. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,620-$1,700
- Location: Tyler, Texas
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: October 20, 2026
- End Date: January 19, 2027
- Schedule: Day shifts, 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week, with a 36- or 48-hour scheduling option
- Weekend Coverage: Approximately 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Unit: Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU)
- Charting: Epic electronic medical record
- Orientation: 12 hours
ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Texas; a state or compact license must be in hand at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience required; 2 years of ICU or critical care nursing experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- NIHSS and PALS certifications as applicable to the assignment
- Recent experience caring for critically ill Medical-Surgical ICU patients
- Epic charting experience required
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Ability to complete required core compliance items and laboratory work within 48 hours of contract signing
- All requested time off must be disclosed during submission
Travel ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a Medical-Surgical ICU
- Manage a 1:2 patient assignment while prioritizing patient safety, clinical stability, and timely interventions
- Care for ventilated patients and manage BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula therapies
- Monitor and titrate cardiac and vasoactive intravenous drips according to established protocols
- Provide central line, PICC line, arterial line, chest tube, and blood product management
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and arterial blood gases and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Support patients experiencing acute renal failure and provide CRRT care using NxStage equipment
- Administer continuous IV sedation and monitor patients during procedural sedation as assigned
- Provide care for patients with acute stroke, multisystem organ dysfunction, cardiac and GI surgical conditions, and other complex diagnoses
- Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation in Epic
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, phlebotomy, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
- Float based on the schedule and participate in weekend coverage as required
