Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,710–$1,800
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, through February 1, 2027
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, based on unit operational needs
- Call: Not required
- Patient Population: Adults
- Unit Census: Approximately 15 patients; 15-bed PCU/IMC unit
Progressive Care Nursing Opportunity
In this PCU travel nurse position, you will support adult patients in a high-acuity progressive care and intermediate care setting. The collaborative clinical environment provides the opportunity to deliver complex medical-surgical nursing care, advanced telemetry monitoring, and timely interventions for patients with changing conditions.

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or a valid compact license
- At least 2 years of recent PCU, IMC, stepdown, or comparable high-acuity nursing experience
- At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Successful completion of an EKG rhythm interpretation examination with a minimum overall score of 80% and a 100% score on lethal rhythms
- Experience caring for patient assignments of approximately 4–6 patients
- Strong telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Two supervisory references, including one from the most recent assignment
- Ability to float to telemetry and medical-surgical units as needed, with ratios of approximately 1:5–1:6
- Flu vaccination required as a condition of employment
- Ability to complete required screening, onboarding modules, and compliance items within established timelines
PCU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a progressive care and intermediate care setting
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition, including lethal dysrhythmias
- Manage patients requiring telemetry, non-titratable cardiac drips, IV infusions, PCA therapy, chest tubes, and bedside monitoring
- Provide care for patients with conditions including sepsis, COPD or asthma, diabetes, renal failure, ESRD requiring dialysis, pneumothorax, hypertension or hypotension, CVA, ETOH withdrawal, and postoperative needs
- Perform central-line and peripheral-line care, initiate and maintain IVs, and follow applicable heparin and IV insulin protocols
- Support patients receiving oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP or CPAP management
- Coordinate pre- and post-hemodialysis care and support patients with complex medical needs
- Float to telemetry and medical-surgical units when required while maintaining safe, individualized patient care
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately and promptly
