Travel PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Telemetry | Lubbock, Texas

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4 on days and nights; 1:5 on weekends

  • Clinical Environment: Short-term acute care setting and Level II trauma center
  • Charting: Epic electronic health record

PCU Travel RN Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Texas; compact license must be active and in hand when required
  • At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience, including PCU, progressive care, stepdown, intermediate care, or neuro telemetry experience
  • Previous experience caring for patients with neurological or neurosurgical conditions preferred
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • NIHSS certification
  • Strong telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac rhythm management skills
  • Experience with Epic or another electronic health record system
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced travel nursing assignment and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team
  • Commitment to required weekend coverage and designated holiday scheduling

Neuro Telemetry Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU and neuro telemetry patients in accordance with professional standards
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, identify clinical changes, and initiate appropriate interventions
  • Care for patients with TIA, stroke, epilepsy, subdural hematoma, trauma, and neurosurgical diagnoses, including patients recovering from spinal and cranial procedures
  • Administer and monitor cardiac and vasoactive infusions, including heparin and Cardene, according to established protocols
  • Manage central and peripheral lines, blood product administration, oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway support, insulin infusions, and isolation precautions
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and activate rapid response or code resources when indicated
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, radiology, social services, IV teams, and other care partners
  • Educate patients and families while promoting safe transitions and positive clinical outcomes
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record
