PCU Travel Nursing Job Details
- Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Nursing
- Location: Spokane, Washington

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,050–$2,160
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Population: Adults
- Typical Ratios: Approximately 1:3 on days and 1:4 on nights
- Call: Not required
- Charting: Epic electronic health record (EHR)
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Float Requirement: May float between units or nearby sister locations to meet patient-care needs
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Washington; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
- At least 1 year of recent PCU, stepdown, progressive care, intermediate care, or telemetry nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current NIHSS certification or demonstrated proficiency, as required
- Recent experience with Epic electronic health records
- Strong telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Ability to manage adult patients with complex conditions and changing acuity in an acute-care setting
- Willingness to work night shifts, every other weekend, and designated holidays as scheduled
PCU Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult PCU patients in a Level III trauma acute-care setting
- Monitor and assess patients with conditions including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, acute respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, chest pain, diabetic ketoacidosis, and substance withdrawal
- Administer medications and manage protocols including insulin, heparin, PCA, and non-titrated or titrated cardiac infusions as clinically appropriate
- Perform telemetry monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases, and recognize changes in patient condition
- Provide central line, PICC, peripheral IV, feeding tube, chest tube, and continuous bladder irrigation care
- Support patients requiring high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway management, and other progressive-care interventions
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, IV teams, physical therapy, radiology, phlebotomy, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
- Maintain a safe, organized environment while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
