Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Baltimore, Maryland
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890–$2,000
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Unit: 16-bed high-acuity cardiac stepdown/intermediate care (IMC) unit
- Patient Population: Adults
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:3
- Weekend Commitment: Approximately 3–4 weekend shifts per four-week block
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Additional Scheduling Information: Holiday shifts are required when they fall within the assigned schedule. Floating within the Registered Nurse’s scope of practice is required.
Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements
- At least 3 years of Registered Nurse experience in an intermediate care, progressive care, PCU, DOU, or cardiac stepdown setting
- Active Maryland or Compact Registered Nurse license at the time of submission
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Current CPI certification; the Calm Every Storm online version is accepted
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association preferred
- Recent experience with Epic or another electronic health record system
- Ability to care for patients requiring telemetry, respiratory support, complex medical management, and frequent reassessment
- Previous charge nurse experience is preferred but not required
- Strong collaboration, communication, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
Cardiac Stepdown Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adults in a high-acuity cardiac stepdown and ICU transition setting
- Monitor and interpret telemetry, dysrhythmias, cardiac status, and changes in patient condition
- Care for patients with respiratory failure, COPD, asthma exacerbation, high-flow oxygen needs, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomies, and ventilator support with a secure airway
- Manage patients with atrial fibrillation, DVT/PE, GI bleeding, renal failure, DKA, CVA, oncology needs, transplant-related conditions, and post-extubation recovery
- Perform central line, PICC, arterial line, chest tube, surgical drain, feeding tube, and tracheostomy care
- Administer blood products, IV medications, insulin protocols, chemotherapy-related therapies, IVIG, and non-titrated cardiac drips according to established protocols
- Support patients receiving bedside hemodialysis, plasmapheresis, cardioversion, adenosine, and other advanced therapies
- Assist with procedures including central line placement, chest tube insertion, paracentesis, thoracentesis, tracheostomy exchange, and bronchoscopy with airway support
- Recognize clinical deterioration and respond effectively with rapid response and code teams
- Coordinate care with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV teams, rehabilitation services, social services, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float within the Registered Nurse’s competency and scope of practice as needed
