Join a collaborative acute-care team as a Med/Surg Tele Travel Registered Nurse in Tyler, Texas. This 13-week night-shift travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to care for adult and geriatric patients in a 36-bed medical-surgical telemetry unit while strengthening your expertise in cardiac monitoring, complex medical conditions, and post-surgical care. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Tyler, Texas
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,550–$1,630
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 20, 2026
- End Date: January 19, 2027
- Schedule: 3 night shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Documentation: Epic electronic medical record (EMR)
- Unit Environment: 36-bed medical-surgical telemetry unit supported by respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, rapid response, and other interdisciplinary teams
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at the time of submission; a state or compact license is accepted
- At least 1 year of acute-care registered nursing experience required; 2 years of experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Recent experience with Epic charting required
- Strong medical-surgical nursing and telemetry nursing experience
- Ability to float to units of equal acuity as needed
- All requested time off must be disclosed during submission
Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition, dysrhythmias, and other clinical concerns
- Administer medications, including cardiac drips without titration, and manage heparin protocols according to orders and policy
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, and document accurately in Epic
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, ports, peripheral IVs, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, surgical drains, wound care, and wound vacs
- Provide oxygen therapy, including nasal cannula, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP support as appropriate
- Administer blood products and provide pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, hemodialysis, and other complex treatments
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient status, including CVA, renal failure, post-MI conditions, and spinal cord injury
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary support services to coordinate effective patient care
- Participate in rapid response and code-team procedures while maintaining infection prevention and isolation precautions
