Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown / Electrocardiology in Peoria, IL

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Healthcare Setting: On-site, acute-care cardiac department
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,370–$2,500
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 11, 2027
• Schedule: Days, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., 5 days per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour shifts
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Call and Weekend Requirements: None
• Charting System: Epic
• Dress Code: Scrubs; any color, in accordance with facility policy

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or confirmation that the Illinois RN license application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent nursing experience in a cardiac, cardiac stepdown, telemetry, cardiac testing, or comparable acute-care setting
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and experience caring for cardiac patients
• Strong critical-thinking, communication, patient assessment, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with adult and pediatric patients and multidisciplinary cardiology teams
• Successful completion of required screening and travel nurse onboarding processes

Cardiac Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Assess patients before cardiac testing and review medical histories, medications, and current clinical status
• Supervise and support cardiac stress testing procedures
• Interpret EKGs and recognize changes requiring prompt clinical intervention
• Initiate IVs and administer cardiac medications as ordered during testing
• Monitor patients throughout procedures and respond appropriately to emergencies
• Document patient information and procedure details accurately in Epic and applicable case-management systems
• Collaborate closely with cardiologists, cardiology fellows, nuclear medicine, echocardiography, and pulmonary function testing teams
• Provide safe, compassionate cardiac nursing care while promoting patient understanding and comfort
