Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Alabama
- At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Recent experience using Cerner or a comparable electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and alternating weekends
- Eligibility for a travel nursing assignment, including a permanent residence at least 50 miles from the assignment location
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and patient-care skills
Medical-Surgical Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout each shift
- Perform nursing assessments, monitor patient conditions, and promptly communicate changes in status
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with provider orders and established standards
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to support positive patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and discharge needs
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and a respectful healing environment
