- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts
- Shift Time: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holiday
- Call Requirement: One 8-hour call shift per 4-week schedule
- Float Requirement: None
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs in accordance with department policy
Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department or emergency room nursing experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with Epic electronic medical records
- Active Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a valid compact-state license
- Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications through the American Heart Association where applicable
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, alternating weekends and holidays, and the required call schedule
- Strong clinical judgment, emergency nursing, communication, teamwork, and prioritization skills
Emergency Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide safe, timely, and compassionate nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, recognize changes in condition, and prioritize care according to acuity
- Administer medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to support effective patient evaluation and treatment
- Document assessments, interventions, outcomes, and care plans accurately in Epic
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and follow-up care
- Maintain compliance with clinical standards, emergency procedures, and applicable hospital policies
