Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Requirements

• At least 1 year of combined permanent RN experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing
• Active Registered Nurse license in Ohio or an active compact nursing license in hand at the time of submission
• Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications in hand; pending certifications are not accepted
• Professional reference from a manager, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, or director in the specialty within the past 12 months
• Strong telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, patient assessment, and clinical prioritization skills
• Ability to successfully complete required orientation assessments, including ECG rhythm recognition and medication-safety testing
• Ability to complete required clinical, background, compliance, and onboarding documentation before the travel nursing assignment begins

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients in an inpatient acute-care setting
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and promptly escalate concerns
• Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to orders and established protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document patient care accurately and maintain clear communication during nursing handoffs
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, fall prevention, and quality outcomes throughout each shift
