Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730–$1,820
• Location: Kerrville, Texas
• Assignment Type: 13-week, on-site travel nursing assignment
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Unit: 26-bed medical-surgical unit with an average daily census of approximately 24 patients
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Weekend Coverage: Weekend availability required, including approximately 12 weekend shifts during the assignment
• Scheduling: No block scheduling; floating may be required to 2 West, the Clinical Decision Unit, and the Acute Rehabilitation Unit

Med/Surg Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and eligibility to practice in Texas
• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Recent short-stay or observation unit experience required
• Telemetry nursing experience preferred
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients with complex medical needs
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills
• First-time travel nurses may be considered based on relevant clinical experience
• Experience with Meditech or a comparable electronic medical record system preferred
• Ability to provide compassionate care, adapt to changing priorities, and float between designated units when needed

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients in a fast-paced inpatient setting
• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions while developing and updating individualized plans of care
• Care for patients with respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, urinary, endocrine, neurological, and renal conditions
• Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in cardiac rhythms, including patients recovering from cardiac stent procedures and pacemaker placement
• Administer medications, IV therapies, insulin, blood products, anticoagulants, and other prescribed treatments safely
• Manage central and peripheral lines, PICC lines, ports, feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound care, and wound vac therapy
• Support patients requiring oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
• Provide care for patients experiencing acute withdrawal, chest pain, syncope, seizures, electrolyte imbalances, and post-procedural needs
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, patient education, and effective discharge planning
• Float to designated units as needed while maintaining high standards of clinical care and professionalism
