- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,860–$1,960

- Nursing Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5 to 1:6
- Weekend Requirement: Two to three weekends per month based on unit needs
- Holiday Requirement: At least one major holiday, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day
- Float Requirement: None indicated
- Schedule Notes: Block scheduling is not available; weekend-only requests may be considered
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia
- At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and time-management skills
- Ability to provide documentation of work history and explain employment gaps longer than 90 days
- Comfort working in a teaching-hospital environment alongside students and new team members
- Willingness to accept occasional charge nurse responsibilities after appropriate training
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Clinical Observation and Medical-Surgical setting
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and promptly communicate concerns to the care team
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Perform nursing assessments, update care plans, and maintain timely, thorough clinical documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, ancillary departments, students, and fellow nurses
- Manage care for approximately five to six patients while maintaining patient safety and quality standards
- Provide patient and family education to support treatment plans and transitions of care
- Contribute to a supportive learning environment for students and new hires
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities when needed and participate in related training
