This Pennsylvania travel nursing assignment is based in a newly opened, modern 96-bed acute inpatient behavioral health facility with four 24-bed housing units, including a dedicated children’s and adolescents’ unit.

Travel Psychiatric Nurse Job Details

• Job Title: Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)
• Nursing Specialty: Psychiatric nursing and behavioral health
• Healthcare Setting: Acute inpatient behavioral health hospital
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680–$1,770
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks, ending January 17, 2027
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, typically three shifts
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; weekends and holidays as assigned
• Documentation: Epic electronic medical record
• Work Arrangement: On-site

Psychiatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) license at the time of submission
• At least 1 year of recent behavioral health nursing or psychiatric nursing experience
• Psychiatric nursing certification preferred; certification may be obtained on site
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate nursing care in an acute inpatient psychiatric environment
• Strong communication, teamwork, clinical judgment, and crisis-management skills

Behavioral Health RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients receiving acute inpatient behavioral health services
• Complete psychiatric nursing assessments, monitor patient conditions, and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary care team
• Promote a safe, therapeutic, and respectful environment for patients, families, and colleagues
• Support individualized treatment plans through medication management, patient education, therapeutic engagement, and ongoing observation
• Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral health crises and changes in patient status
• Accurately document patient care and clinical updates in the Epic electronic medical record
• Collaborate with psychiatric providers and the multidisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes
