Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in La Plata, Maryland

Emergency Room RN Travel Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000–$2,110
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: October 26, 2026
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, with a 36/48-hour option
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
  • Healthcare Setting: Fast-paced Emergency Department
  • Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
  • Average Daily Census: Approximately 130 visits
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Holidays as scheduled
  • Call: No prescheduled call requirement

Emergency Room Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience required; strong candidates with 1 year of relevant emergency nursing experience may be considered
  • Active Maryland RN license or compact RN license at the time of submission
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association
  • Current NIHSS and CPI certifications
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Epic electronic medical record charting experience preferred
  • Strong emergency nursing skills and the ability to care for patients of all ages and acuity levels
  • Ability to float within scope of practice as assignment needs require
  • First-time travel nurses with strong Emergency Department experience are encouraged to apply

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, timely, and compassionate emergency nursing care in a high-volume Emergency Department
  • Perform rapid patient assessment, triage, ongoing reassessment, and prioritization for patients with varied diagnoses
  • Care for medical, surgical, trauma, pediatric, behavioral health, and critical-care patients
  • Initiate and maintain IV access; administer emergency medications, blood products, IV vasopressors, and continuous infusions as indicated
  • Monitor patients requiring respiratory support, procedural sedation, ventilator care, central line management, and chest tube management
  • Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias, stroke, STEMI, seizures, overdose, multisystem organ dysfunction, and other emergent conditions
  • Perform or assist with 12-lead ECGs, phlebotomy, splinting, isolation precautions, and emergency procedures
  • Support patients experiencing behavioral health crises, suicidal ideation, or violent behavior using appropriate safety practices
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
  • Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record
