Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Travel Nursing Job in Salisbury, NC

Join a collaborative acute-care team as a Med/Surg Tele Travel Registered Nurse in Salisbury, North Carolina. This on-site travel nursing opportunity is ideal for an experienced RN who enjoys caring for adult and geriatric patients with diverse medical-surgical diagnoses in a telemetry-supported setting. First-time travelers are welcome, and you will be supported by an interdisciplinary team that includes IV therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response, physical therapy, and more. Located in North Carolina’s scenic Piedmont region, Salisbury offers a welcoming community, historic charm, and convenient access to larger metropolitan areas while maintaining a relaxed, small-city atmosphere.

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,710–$1,800
  • Job Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
  • Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
  • Start Date: October 26, 2026
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m.
  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6–7
  • Unit Profile: 36-bed medical-surgical unit with an average daily census of approximately 31 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; approximately 3 weekend shifts per 6 weeks
  • Floating: Must be willing to float to areas caring for medical-surgical patients
  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • Charting and Medication Systems: Epic and Pyxis
  • Scrubs: Navy
  • Time-Off Guidelines: Up to 7 days of pre-approved time off; no time off during the first week, and no additional requests after signing

Med/Surg Tele RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a compact state
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele nursing experience
  • Current BLS certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification
  • Strong cardiac monitoring skills, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience using rapid response and code team procedures
  • Proficiency with blood product administration, central line care, peripheral line management, and starting and maintaining IVs
  • Experience with nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and appropriate PPE use
  • Epic experience preferred
  • OCN certification and chemotherapy administration experience preferred but not required
  • Must be adaptable, dependable, and comfortable caring for patients with varied medical-surgical diagnoses, including COPD, pneumonia, hip fractures, and general surgical conditions

Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced Med/Surg Tele environment
  • Assess patients, develop and update individualized care plans, and evaluate responses to treatment
  • Interpret telemetry rhythms and promptly identify changes in patient condition
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and participate in rapid response and code team interventions
  • Administer medications, blood products, and other prescribed therapies in accordance with established standards
  • Initiate and maintain peripheral IVs and provide central line care and management
  • Support respiratory care, including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
  • Maintain infection prevention practices, including isolation precautions and proper PPE use
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
  • Accurately document care and clinical updates in Epic
  • Float to other medical-surgical areas as needed to support team coverage and continuity of care
