PACU Travel Nurse Job Details

PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least 1 year of recent PACU, post-anesthesia, or post-operative nursing experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Successful completion of dysrhythmia testing
- Experience caring for pediatric and gynecologic surgical patients
- Ability to obtain a Vermont nursing license upon acceptance of the assignment, if not already licensed in Vermont
- Cerner electronic medical record experience preferred
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical judgment skills
PACU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients during the post-anesthesia recovery period
- Monitor airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status, pain, nausea, and vital signs following surgery
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and post-operative complications
- Care for adult, pediatric, and gynecologic surgical populations as assigned
- Administer medications and therapies according to established protocols and provider orders
- Complete accurate clinical documentation and communicate patient status during nursing handoffs
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical, and perioperative teams to support safe patient transitions
- Educate patients and families regarding recovery instructions, comfort measures, and discharge needs
