Experienced CVOR Registered Nurses are invited to join a high-acuity cardiovascular surgical team in Springfield, Ohio.

CVOR Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse

  • Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
  • Start Date: November 2, 2026
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,750–$2,890
  • Schedule: 4 shifts per week
  • Shift Duration: 10-hour day shifts, with afternoon coverage as needed
  • Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week
  • Call Requirement: Cardiovascular call coverage with approximately 10–15 calls per six-week period and a 30-minute response time
  • Assignment Notes: May float to the main operating room when cardiovascular cases are not scheduled. Local candidates are not eligible for this assignment.

CVOR RN Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the working state or compact privileges
  • At least 2 years of cardiovascular or critical care nursing experience, including 1–2 years of general nursing experience
  • Previous CVOR or operating room nursing experience required; completion of an OR internship preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Successful completion of a dysrhythmia examination
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and NIH certification required
  • CNOR certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique, AORN standards, surgical equipment, and perioperative nursing practices
  • Ability to assist with patient positioning, transport, equipment management, and procedures requiring physical exertion
  • Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and safety-focused in high-pressure cardiovascular surgical situations

CVOR Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care for cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients
  • Support procedures including CABG, valve surgery, carotid procedures, femoral-popliteal bypasses, and other vascular cases
  • Assist with hybrid-room procedures such as TAVR and cath lab cases including TCAR, EVAR, and TVAR
  • Assess patients before, during, and after surgery while developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized plans of care
  • Coordinate the needs of the surgical team and collaborate with anesthesia, providers, and other interdisciplinary care professionals
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and comfortable surgical environment while monitoring adherence to aseptic technique
  • Anticipate the needs of the scrub nurse and surgical team by preparing sterile supplies, operating equipment, and maintaining accurate records
  • Assist with gowning and draping, IV insertion, catheter placement, Foley insertion, patient preparation, and safe patient transport
  • Assist anesthesia during induction and emergence and respond appropriately to urgent clinical situations
  • Administer medications safely and provide patient and family education, including discharge instructions when applicable
  • Advocate for patient safety, privacy, dignity, and culturally responsive care throughout the perioperative experience
  • Participate in cardiovascular call coverage and respond within the required timeframe for urgent cardiovascular and vascular procedures
