This 13-week night-shift travel nursing contract offers a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio and complex intermediate care for neurological, trauma, transplant, and post-surgical patients. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020-$2,130
- Location: Greenville, North Carolina
- Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Intermediate Care
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Assignment Dates: October 26, 2026-January 26, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week; 36 hours weekly
- Shift: 7:00 p.m.-7:30 a.m.
- Weekend Rotation: Six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
- Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 4 patients in a pod-based model
- Scheduling: No blocked scheduling; all requested time off must be submitted before assignment confirmation
PCU Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience; Progressive Care, intermediate care, ICU, neuro, trauma, or other high-acuity nursing experience is strongly preferred
- Active North Carolina Registered Nurse license or compact state license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification and demonstrated ability to assess neurological status
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms and manage patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring
- Successful completion of required pre-assignment learning assessments
- Ability to provide safe, collaborative nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring, frequent reassessment, and acute care nursing support
- Manage patients with acute ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, seizures, multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, and other complex neurological conditions
- Care for patients before and after neurosurgical procedures, including craniotomy, ventriculostomy, complex neuro-spine procedures, and lumbar drain management
- Provide care for isolated and multisystem trauma, including injuries related to falls, motor vehicle crashes, penetrating trauma, and other emergencies
- Support pre- and post-operative care for transplant, general surgery, and orthopedic patients
- Perform and document neurological assessments using the NIH Stroke Scale and other evidence-based assessment tools
- Monitor and manage arterial lines, central lines, tracheostomy patients, intravenous drips, and cardiac monitoring systems
- Assist with lumbar punctures and perform peripheral IV starts, peripheral laboratory draws, and arterial blood draws
- Administer and monitor cardiac, insulin, heparin, and other intravenous infusions according to clinical protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing assistants, therapists, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and support safe transitions to higher or lower levels of care
