Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Exeter, NH

Join a collaborative maternal-child care team as a Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse on a 13-week nursing contract in Exeter, New Hampshire. This on-site travel nursing opportunity offers the chance to care for patients in a Level II maternity setting with a Level I nursery, supporting approximately 600 deliveries annually. Exeter is a welcoming Seacoast community known for its historic downtown, scenic New England surroundings, and convenient access to Portsmouth, area beaches, and Boston.

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,620–$2,760
  • Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery / Obstetrics / Maternal-Child Health
  • Healthcare Setting: Level II maternity unit with Level I nursery
  • Location: Exeter, New Hampshire
  • Start Date: November 2, 2026
  • End Date: January 30, 2027
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts, primarily nights with potential rotation to days
  • Weekend Rotation: Required; scheduling is completed in six-week blocks
  • Call: May be required based on census and unit needs
  • Orientation: Two days
  • Unit Highlights: Approximately 19-bed Labor & Delivery, postpartum/mother-baby, and pediatric services; cesarean delivery operating room located on the unit

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery or OB nursing experience
  • Experience caring for postpartum, mother-baby, newborn, and pediatric patients
  • Active New Hampshire or compact-state RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
  • NRP certification
  • Epic experience required
  • Experience circulating for cesarean sections required; scrub experience is a plus but not required
  • C-EFM certification preferred
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, nights, weekend rotations, and potential call
  • Comfort working with patients from 35 weeks’ gestation through postpartum, newborn, and age-appropriate pediatric care

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, postpartum, newborn, and pediatric patients
  • Support vaginal and cesarean deliveries in accordance with unit protocols and evidence-based maternal-child health standards
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status using fetal monitoring systems and promptly escalate changes
  • Assist with cesarean section procedures as the circulating Registered Nurse
  • Perform postpartum assessments, newborn care, medication administration, and patient education
  • Complete IV placement, phlebotomy, epidural catheter removal after delivery, and other unit-specific clinical tasks
  • Use RN bedside ultrasound for fetal presentation assessment when indicated
  • Manage epidural pumps, PCA pumps, IV pumps, glucometers, and medication dispensing technology safely
  • Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe, high-quality patient care
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow established Labor & Delivery and maternal-child health protocols
