Travel ICU RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,770–$1,860
- Location: Clinton, Maryland, near Washington, DC
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts
- Shift Options: Rotating day and night shifts; days approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. and nights approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Ratios: 4 patients per nurse
- Unit Profile: 12-bed unit with an average daily census of approximately 9 patients
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend; six Saturday or Sunday shifts during a six-week period
- Floating: May float to the ICU, Emergency Department, and Medical-Surgical areas as needed
ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or a valid compact nursing license
- At least 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience, including experience within the last 7 years
- Previous travel nursing experience with at least one completed travel assignment
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent experience using Cerner electronic medical records
- Successful completion of the EKG rhythm interpretation assessment with a minimum overall score of 80% and a perfect score on lethal rhythms
- Ability to provide two supervisory references, including one from the most recent assignment
- Willingness to meet required influenza vaccination standards
- Comfort working rotating day and night shifts, weekends, and in both Intermediate Care (IMC) and ICU settings
ICU Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill and intermediate-care adult and geriatric patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize, interpret, and respond to dysrhythmias
- Care for patients requiring ventilator and tracheostomy support, high-flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and vascular access devices
- Administer blood products and manage heparin, insulin, vasoactive, and other non-titratable IV medication protocols
- Interpret arterial blood gases and assess patients with cardiac, neurologic, respiratory, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and renal conditions
- Support patients before and after cardiac catheterization, angiography, myocardial infarction, and hemodialysis
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, and rapid response teams
- Respond to changes in patient condition and participate in rapid response and code team activities
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Cerner
- Adapt to floating assignments while maintaining high standards of patient care and teamwork
