Travel PCU Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity in Seattle, Washington, caring for adult and geriatric patients recovering from complex cardiac and vascular procedures. Join a high-acuity Progressive Care Unit nursing team for a 13-week travel nursing assignment in a collaborative cardiac surgical telemetry environment with strong interdisciplinary support, a 4:1 patient ratio, and a diverse range of cardiac and post-operative cases. Travel RN Job Details
- Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Cardiac Surgical Telemetry
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830-$1,930
- Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Location: Seattle, Washington 98122
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, with the possibility of 1:5 at midnight
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required; flexibility may be needed to meet unit staffing needs
- Floating: Required to comparable units based on patient-care needs
PCU Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington or a compact license in hand at submission
- At least 2 years of recent telemetry and PCU nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required; this assignment is not intended for first-time travelers
- Recent experience with surgical telemetry, open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, and post-cardiac catheterization care
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Epic electronic health record experience is required
- Demonstrated competency with IV therapy, radial band and groin management, chest tubes, sternal precautions, and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Ability to care for patients receiving stable cardiac or vasoactive drips, with titration experience preferred where applicable
- Flexibility to float to like units and work required weekends and holidays
Cardiac Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, heart failure, stroke with cardiac involvement, and vascular conditions
- Care for patients before and after open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, angiography, and other cardiovascular interventions
- Monitor and interpret telemetry, identify dysrhythmias, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
- Manage chest tubes, surgical drains, epicardial pacemakers, sternal precautions, and post-operative cardiac care needs
- Perform or support blood and blood-product administration, respiratory treatments, tracheostomy care, and CPAP/BiPAP therapy
- Provide care for patients with LVADs and other specialized structural heart support when indicated
- Administer and monitor medications and stable infusions such as heparin, insulin, amiodarone, antiarrhythmics, beta blockers, Cardizem, diuretics, and vasopressors
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, IV services, radiology, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
- Promote safe, evidence-based care while maintaining a calm and supportive experience for patients and families
