Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830–$1,930
- Location: Seattle, Washington 98122
- Healthcare Setting: Cardiac stepdown and surgical telemetry unit
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Nursing Schedule: Night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.; three 12-hour shifts per week
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:4, with up to 1:5 at midnight; 3:1 for high-acuity patients and special procedures
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and additional coverage as needed
- Floating: Required to like units; schedule flexibility is essential
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington; an active compact license must be in hand when applicable
- At least 2 years of recent cardiac telemetry, surgical telemetry, or cardiac stepdown nursing experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required; this assignment is not intended for first-time travelers
- Demonstrated experience caring for vascular patients, managing groin and radial bands, providing IV therapy, and supporting post-cardiac procedure recovery
- Epic electronic health record experience is required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Ability to interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and manage stable cardiac or vasoactive infusions according to protocol
- Comfort caring for patients with chest tubes, sternal precautions, post-myocardial infarction needs, and post-cardiac surgery recovery requirements
- Ability to float between comparable units and work a flexible schedule, including weekends and designated holidays
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, vascular conditions, stroke with cardiac involvement, and pre- or post-operative cardiac needs
- Monitor telemetry, identify cardiac dysrhythmias, and implement appropriate nursing interventions
- Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization, angiography, vascular procedures, and open-heart surgery
- Manage chest tubes, surgical drains, epicardial pacers, sternal precautions, and post-operative cardiac recovery needs
- Administer blood and blood products, cardiac medications, anticoagulants, insulin therapies, and stable cardiac or vasoactive drips as ordered
- Provide respiratory support, including oxygen administration, breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy care
- Perform and maintain IV, central line, PICC, port, wound, and vascular access care
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, rehabilitation, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Educate patients and families while maintaining accurate clinical documentation in Epic
- Float to comparable units as needed to support safe staffing and continuity of patient care
