Emergency Department Travel Nurse Job Details
- Specialty: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

- Shift: Mids/nights, with typical start times of 1500 or 1900; schedule may vary based on department needs
- Patient Volume: Approximately 200 patients per day
- Department: 46-bed Emergency Department within a 375-bed Level III Trauma Center
- Scheduling: No on-call requirement; weekend and holiday coverage varies by unit needs
- Orientation: Department orientation, electronic medical record training as needed, mental health area experience, front-end experience, and a 12-hour precepted shift

Emergency Department RN Travel Nurse Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI/MOAB certifications
- Recent Epic experience required
- Successful completion of the required traveler telemetry competency assessment before the assignment begins
- Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV therapy, medication administration, and emergency nursing skills
- Ability to care for high-acuity medical, trauma, cardiac, neurologic, respiratory, behavioral health, and geriatric patients
- Comfort working in a collaborative, high-volume emergency care environment
Emergency Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients from pediatric through geriatric populations
- Assess, triage, monitor, and reassess patients with trauma, sepsis, STEMI, stroke, DKA, respiratory conditions, mental health concerns, falls, and other high-acuity presentations
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and provide appropriate interventions for emergent cardiac conditions
- Initiate and maintain IV access, administer medications and cardiac drips, and monitor patient responses
- Perform and assist with procedural sedation and blood administration
- Administer TNK when indicated and within scope of practice
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social work, security, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Support emergency psychiatric care and maintain a safe, respectful environment for patients and staff
- Respond effectively to changing patient acuity in a department supported by resource nursing, emergency technicians, 24/7 respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and dedicated safety resources
