Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Puyallup, WA 98372
- Assignment Type: Travel RN contract
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- End Date: February 13, 2027
- Duration: Approximately 15 weeks
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts
- Primary Assignment: Emergency department holding area and nursing float pool support
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4 in PCU, 1:5 for medical-surgical assignments, and variable ICU ratios based on patient acuity
- Documentation and Equipment: Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
- Orientation: Two days of hospital orientation and one day on the assigned unit
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible to work in Washington
- At least 2 years of recent PCU, progressive care, or comparable acute-care nursing experience
- Previous experience caring for progressive-care, emergency holding, or mixed-acuity patients
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Telemetry competency, including cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Proficiency with IV medication titration, including commonly used cardiac and anticoagulation infusions
- Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomies, lumbar drains, general drains, ostomies, and IV therapy
- Ability to float within scope of practice and adapt to changing unit needs
- Strong communication, patient education, organization, and teamwork skills
- Comfort working nights, varying weekends, and in fast-paced acute-care environments
PCU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients with respiratory compromise, sepsis, renal failure, bleeding disorders, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, orthopedic conditions, and other medical-surgical diagnoses
- Provide care in the emergency department holding area, which may include ICU, PCU, medical-surgical, isolation, and non-ambulatory patients
- Monitor patients receiving telemetry and recognize changes in cardiac rhythm or clinical condition
- Administer and titrate IV medications according to orders, protocols, and patient response
- Manage chest tubes, drains, tracheostomies, ostomies, IV access, and other complex nursing needs
- Complete focused assessments, medication administration, clinical documentation, and ongoing reassessments
- Float to appropriate units within competency, including PCU, medical-surgical, rehabilitation, and other acute-care areas
- Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, nursing assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, safety, and discharge needs
- Remain flexible, resourceful, and responsive while supporting changing patient volumes and staffing needs
