This per diem nursing opportunity offers 12-hour day shifts in a fast-paced emergency department where you can make an immediate impact caring for patients with a wide range of urgent and emergent needs. Emergency RN Job Details
- Specialty: Emergency Department RN / Emergency Room Nurse
- Location: Norfolk, Virginia 23507
- Healthcare Setting: On-site Emergency Department
- Schedule: Per diem; 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Per Diem Commitment: Minimum of 1 shift per month to remain active in the per diem pool
- Start Date: September 30, 2026
- Assignment End Date: October 3, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130, based on applicable weekly hours

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- At least 2 years of professional RN experience
- At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department or Emergency Room nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and any additional credentials required for emergency nursing practice
- Ability to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care in a high-acuity emergency department
- Must be a local clinician available to meet the per diem scheduling commitment
Emergency Nursing Responsibilities
- Assess, triage, and prioritize patients presenting with urgent and emergent medical conditions
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care throughout the emergency visit
- Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
- Administer medications and treatments safely according to provider orders and clinical protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, ancillary services, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, follow-up care, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and support a safe, organized emergency department environment
