This Registered Nurse (RN) role supports patients in an ER Holds unit while they await inpatient bed placement. The position offers the opportunity to provide focused nursing care in a fast-paced acute-care environment and float to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical units when volume permits. Located in Norfolk, Virginia, the area offers a vibrant coastal setting with convenient access to waterfront attractions, historic neighborhoods, and a strong healthcare community.
Telemetry RN Job Details
- Location: Norfolk, Virginia 23507
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Employment Type: Per diem
- Schedule: Day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
- Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
- Weekly Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week when scheduled
- Duration: September 30, 2026 through October 3, 2027
- Per Diem Requirement: Work at least one shift per month to remain active in the per diem pool
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia
- At least 2 years of professional RN experience
- At least 1 year of recent Telemetry, Progressive Care, or related acute-care nursing experience
- Ability to provide patient care in an ER Holds, Telemetry, or Medical-Surgical setting
- Ability to work independently, adapt to changing patient volumes, and float as needed
Telemetry Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the ER Holds unit who are awaiting inpatient bed placement
- Monitor patient status and communicate changes to the appropriate care team
- Carry out provider orders and support timely coordination of patient care
- Float to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical units when ER Holds volume is low
- Complete accurate clinical documentation and follow established nursing policies and procedures
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, high-quality patient care
