- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, approximately 36 hours per week
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Rotating weekends and holidays
- Healthcare Setting: On-site long-term acute care hospital
LTAC Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license applicable to Pennsylvania practice
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience required; 2 years of bedside clinical experience highly desired
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required before the first shift
- Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and nursing documentation skills
- Ability to provide safe, compassionate nursing care to medically complex and chronically ill patients
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
LTAC Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments within the required timeframe and develop individualized plans of care.
- Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in clinical status, and promptly communicate pertinent information to providers and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and clinical updates in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in rehabilitation programming and support patients in achieving established clinical and functional goals.
- Provide patient education and encouragement to patients, families, and caregivers based on identified healthcare needs.
- Initiate discharge planning from admission and coordinate patient and caregiver teaching to support a safe transition of care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team during care conferences and ongoing patient evaluations.
- Delegate appropriately and provide direction, training, and supervision to nursing support staff.
- Promote patient, staff, and environmental safety while following applicable nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Prioritize patient care, organize workflow, manage time effectively, and contribute to a positive clinical team environment.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation when requested and pursue ongoing professional development.
