Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in South Carolina
- At least 1 year of bedside clinical nursing experience required; 2 years preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required before the first shift, when applicable to the assigned setting
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and delegation skills
- Commitment to patient safety, accurate documentation, and compassionate long-term acute care nursing
LTAC Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments within required time frames and develop individualized plans of care.
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and promptly communicate pertinent findings to the appropriate care team members.
- Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes accurately and on time.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and contribute relevant updates regarding patient progress and care needs.
- Support rehabilitation goals and provide patient and family education related to diagnoses, treatment plans, safety, and discharge preparation.
- Initiate discharge planning from admission and help patients and families prepare for a safe transition of care.
- Delegate appropriately and provide direction, training, and supervision to licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and orienting staff.
- Promote a safe patient care environment by following infection prevention, safe handling, workplace safety, and facility procedures.
- Prioritize assignments, manage time effectively, maintain necessary supplies, and contribute to efficient unit operations.
- Assume charge responsibilities after orientation as requested and participate in ongoing professional development.
