PCU Registered Nurse travel contract in Baltimore, Maryland, offering $1,710–$1,800 weekly for experienced night-shift nurses. PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Baltimore, Maryland 21239
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Intermediate Care (IMC) / Stepdown
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,710–$1,800
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Start Date: October 27, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks, through January 26, 2027
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
- Typical Unit Volume: Approximately 36 beds
- Charting System: Cerner
- Float Expectations: May float to units with equivalent or lower acuity when census decreases
PCU Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or an applicable compact-state license
- At least 2 years of recent PCU, IMC, progressive care, DOU, stepdown, or telemetry nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience, including completion of at least one travel assignment
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent experience with Cerner or a comparable electronic health record system
- Strong cardiac telemetry skills, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Proficiency caring for patients requiring close monitoring for cardiac, respiratory, renal, vascular, and medical-surgical conditions
- Ability to complete required clinical education, screening, and onboarding activities within established timeframes
- Annual influenza vaccination is required
PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a PCU/IMC setting
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns appropriately
- Manage patients with heart failure, renal failure, respiratory conditions, post-myocardial infarction needs, and other medical or surgical diagnoses requiring telemetry
- Administer medications and manage ordered cardiac, vasoactive, insulin, and heparin protocols according to policy
- Provide care for central lines, PICC lines, ports, peripheral IVs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, tracheostomies, surgical drains, and wound vacuums
- Support patients receiving oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, or CPAP
- Coordinate care for patients traveling off the unit for diagnostic or procedural services
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV teams, rehabilitation, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other support departments
- Respond effectively to changes in acuity and participate in rapid response or emergency interventions as needed
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, care plans, and patient responses in Cerner
