- Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:3–4
- Floating: Required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Electronic Medical Record: Cerner
- Dress Code: Navy-blue scrubs or navy-blue pants with a white top; scrubs are not provided
PCU Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or a valid compact RN license
- At least 2 years of recent PCU, progressive care, IMC, stepdown, or telemetry nursing experience, including experience caring for patients with congestive heart failure
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Recent experience with Cerner clinical documentation
- Strong cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Ability to complete required clinical screening, orientation, and unit-specific learning modules within designated timeframes
- Flu vaccination required; exemptions are not accepted for this assignment
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, COPD, acute myocardial infarction, stable angina, chronic renal failure, pneumonia, and post-PCI needs
- Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and accurately interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization and myocardial infarction
- Manage heparin, insulin, vasoactive, inotropic, continuous diuretic, and other cardiac infusions according to protocol
- Provide care for patients receiving ultrafiltration, hemodialysis, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and other advanced therapies
- Perform central-line, PICC, port, peripheral-line, feeding-tube, tracheostomy, chest-tube, wound, and wound-vac care
- Administer blood products and obtain laboratory specimens through appropriate phlebotomy techniques
- Recognize changes in patient condition, initiate appropriate interventions, and collaborate with rapid response and interdisciplinary care teams
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Cerner
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV services, rehabilitation, radiology, social services, and other care partners to support positive patient outcomes
