Join a collaborative perioperative team as a PACU Registered Nurse (RN) in Spokane, Washington. This 13-week travel nursing opportunity offers the chance to care for adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients in a fast-paced post-anesthesia care unit while gaining experience across pre-operative, Phase I PACU, and Phase II recovery care. Spokane provides an inviting Inland Northwest setting with access to scenic riverfront areas, outdoor recreation, cultural attractions, and a vibrant community atmosphere.
PACU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Spokane, Washington
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,280–$2,400
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Shift Duration: 10-hour shifts
- Shifts Per Week: 4
- Schedule: Block scheduling with day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or night shifts from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatric, and geriatric patients
- Healthcare Setting: Short-term acute care and Level II trauma environment
- Daily Census: Approximately 20 patients with 12 recovery beds
- Call and Weekends: Not required
- Floating: May be asked to float between nearby affiliated units when needed
PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington or a compact license in hand at submission
- At least 1 year of recent PACU, post-anesthesia, or related acute-care nursing experience
- Recent experience with pre-operative, Phase I PACU, and Phase II recovery care
- Strong intravenous (IV) skills
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Electronic health record experience
- Clinical competence in post-anesthesia assessment, pain management, airway monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, blood product administration, central line care, and IV vasopressor management
- Ability to care for patients receiving general anesthesia, local anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care, nerve blocks, and spinal anesthesia
- Two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the last three years
PACU RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures in the post-anesthesia care unit
- Monitor airway status, vital signs, level of consciousness, pain, sedation, and post-operative complications
- Manage Phase I and Phase II recovery, including discharge-readiness assessments and patient education
- Care for patients following gynecologic, orthopedic, hand, thyroid, urologic, ophthalmic, general, vascular, neurologic, and minor pediatric procedures
- Administer medications, narcotics, reversal agents, blood products, and IV therapies according to established protocols
- Manage PCA pumps, arterial lines, central lines, ventilated patients, and other post-operative monitoring needs as clinically indicated
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including dysrhythmias, respiratory compromise, pain crises, and malignant hyperthermia concerns
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic health record
