Med/Surg RN Job Requirements
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in Nebraska
- At least 1 year of recent adult medical-surgical nursing experience
- Ability to provide safe, compassionate bedside nursing care to patients with varied medical and surgical needs
- Comfort working 12-hour rotating nursing shifts
- Strong communication, organization, clinical judgment, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
- Flexibility to float to other units, departments, or patient care areas based on staffing and operational needs
Med/Surg Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout the care continuum
- Assess patient conditions, identify changes in status, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with clinical standards and hospital policies
- Monitor vital signs, symptoms, lines, drains, and other relevant clinical indicators
- Collaborate with providers, nursing colleagues, patients, and families to support positive patient outcomes
- Document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly
- Provide patient and family education related to treatment plans, medications, and discharge needs
- Adapt quickly to changing census, patient acuity, and unit assignments while maintaining high-quality care
