Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Upper Marlboro, Maryland

Join a dynamic perioperative team as an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to provide perioperative care in a Level II Trauma setting with a broad range of surgical specialties. Experienced travel nurses with strong circulating and scrubbing skills, including Da Vinci robotic surgery experience, will thrive in this collaborative healthcare environment.

Travel OR RN Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,270–$2,400 per week
  • Location: Upper Marlboro, Maryland
  • Healthcare Setting: Level II Trauma setting
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: October 26, 2026
  • End Date: January 25, 2027
  • Shift: 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 6:45 a.m.–3:15 p.m.
  • Schedule: 5 shifts per week; 40 hours per week
  • Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
  • Call: Approximately 5–6 call shifts per 4-week period; weekday call extends through 6:30 a.m., and weekend call is 24 hours
  • Weekends and Holidays: Rotational weekend coverage and holidays as scheduled
  • Orientation: 36 hours

Operating Room Registered Nurse Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in Maryland or a valid compact RN license
  • At least 3 years of recent Operating Room nursing experience; candidates with 2 years may be considered if they have exceptionally strong OR experience
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • CNOR and NIHSS certification preferred when applicable
  • Strong experience in both circulating and scrubbing roles
  • General Operating Room and Da Vinci robotic surgery experience required
  • Epic electronic medical record experience required
  • Ability to support a broad surgical case mix in a Level II Trauma setting
  • Willingness to float within the specialty and to an affiliated nearby campus as needed
  • Ability to respond within 30 minutes when called in
  • Required influenza vaccination in accordance with assignment policies

Perioperative Nursing Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, comprehensive perioperative nursing care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Circulate and scrub for general, trauma, orthopedic, spine, vascular, cardiac, thoracic, neurologic, gynecologic, urologic, ENT, plastics, podiatry, bariatric, and robotic procedures.
  • Prepare operating rooms, surgical equipment, supplies, medications, and documentation according to established protocols.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with robotic systems, minimally invasive procedures, specialty equipment, specimen handling, surgical counts, and universal safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary support teams to promote efficient patient care.
  • Document patient care accurately in Epic and maintain compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.
  • Participate in trauma response, emergency cases, and on-call coverage as scheduled.
  • Float within the nurse’s scope of practice and support departmental staffing needs.
