Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Outpatient Oncology Infusion | New Haven, CT

Travel RN Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370
  • Location: New Haven, Connecticut—a vibrant coastal city known for its historic neighborhoods, cultural attractions, diverse dining, and convenient access to the greater New England region
  • Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
  • Start Date: October 30, 2026
  • Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10-hour day shifts; typically 8:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.
  • Weekly Hours: 40 hours
  • Alternate Schedule: Five 8-hour day shifts, generally 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., may be considered
  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:7–8
  • Daily Census: Approximately 80 visits
  • Charting: Epic
  • Scheduling: Block scheduling
  • Float: Possible
  • Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
  • Travel Eligibility: Local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible for this assignment

Outpatient Oncology RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Connecticut; candidates should begin the Connecticut licensing process early, as issuance may take approximately 15–21 business days
  • At least 2 years of recent outpatient oncology infusion or specialty oncology nursing experience
  • Current BLS/BCLS certification
  • Chemo certification through ONS/ONCC
  • OCN certification preferred or required per assignment compliance
  • Current Epic charting experience
  • Demonstrated competency with chemotherapy administration, peripheral IV placement, port access, venipuncture/phlebotomy, and infusion therapy
  • Strong triage, patient education, assessment, and clinical documentation skills
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination is required
  • One professional reference required

Oncology Infusion RN Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric oncology patients in an outpatient infusion setting
  • Administer chemotherapy, biologic therapies, intravenous infusions, and other prescribed treatments according to established protocols
  • Access and maintain peripheral IVs and implanted ports while monitoring for complications
  • Complete patient assessments, obtain vital signs, evaluate pain and symptoms, and identify changes in condition
  • Perform triage and respond appropriately to treatment-related symptoms, adverse reactions, and urgent clinical needs
  • Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, side effects, and symptom management
  • Document care accurately in Epic and maintain required clinical and medication records
  • Collaborate with providers, pharmacy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
  • Support care for patients participating in clinical trials and those receiving specialized treatments, including radiopharmaceuticals
  • Maintain a safe, organized infusion environment and follow infection prevention, medication safety, and biohazard disposal standards
