Join a collaborative inpatient nursing team as a Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN) on a 13-week night assignment in Wausau, Wisconsin. This travel nursing job supports adult medical-surgical patients in a Medical and Pediatrics unit; travel nurses on this assignment will not be responsible for pediatric patients. Wausau offers a welcoming community, scenic Northwoods surroundings, and convenient access to outdoor recreation, local dining, and cultural attractions.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 30, 2026
- End Date: February 27, 2027
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week, excluding applicable orientation and unit closure considerations
- Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Charting System: EPIC
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4–5 on days and 1:6–7 on nights
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse experience
- Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Recent EPIC charting experience
- Level II trauma experience highly preferred
- Ability to float to inpatient units as needed
- Strong adaptability, organization, communication, and independent clinical judgment
Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients
- Assess patients, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate outcomes
- Manage patients with respiratory illnesses, stroke and other neurological conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, renal failure, sepsis, wound care needs, infectious diseases, and acute alcohol withdrawal
- Administer medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and promptly communicate changes in condition
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in EPIC
- Collaborate with providers, ancillary departments, patients, and families to support positive outcomes
- Float across inpatient units and respond positively to changing patient-care needs
- Participate in the assigned weekend and holiday rotation
