  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,750–$2,890
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week, except during designated holidays or facility closures
  • Shift: 8-hour day shifts, generally Monday through Friday with varying start times
  • Call: Approximately one night of call per week, one weekend of call per month, and one backup call assignment per week; additional call may occasionally be needed
  • Response Time: Must be ready to work in the operating room within 30 minutes; reliable personal transportation is required for call
  • Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Rotating weekends and holidays, generally every third or fourth weekend with holiday rotation
  • Orientation: Two-week orientation with training for additional anesthesia skills as needed
  • Clinical Environment: High-volume operating room department with approximately 21 rooms and exposure to multiple surgical specialties

CVOR Travel Nurse Requirements

  • Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
  • Associate degree, nursing diploma, or certificate indicating completion of an approved nursing program
  • Current BLS certification from AHA or ARC
  • Current ACLS certification
  • At least 3 years of CVOR experience with anesthesia experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Strong operating room or CVOR circulating experience; ICU or ER experience may be considered when paired with substantial anesthesia experience
  • Current Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience
  • Experience with Cell Saver and Belmont systems required; Level I experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to respond within 30 minutes while on call and maintain a dependable transportation plan
  • Flexible, resilient, and collaborative professional with strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to manage change effectively

CVOR RN and Anesthesia Responsibilities

  • Support anesthesia providers throughout cardiothoracic, trauma, elective, and general surgical procedures
  • Assist with heart surgeries and complex cases in a high-acuity cardiovascular operating room environment
  • Circulate effectively for CVOR and other surgical cases while maintaining strict sterile technique
  • Assist with intubations, fiber-optic scopes during intubation, and other airway-related procedures
  • Assist anesthesia providers with arterial line, central line, lumbar drain, and Swan-Ganz catheter placement
  • Start IVs, draw and process labs, set up medication pumps, and support accurate perioperative documentation
  • Operate and manage Belmont, Cell Saver, and Level I equipment according to established clinical standards
  • Prepare the operating room and anesthesia equipment for assigned cases and respond effectively to changing procedural needs
  • Provide safe, attentive care during routine and emergent procedures while collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the broader perioperative team
  • Complete assigned downtime tasks and contribute to an efficient, professional, and supportive work environment
